Blitz - "Disappointment" Music Video

This is a nice little pick from my inbox. Fresh new music by way of Gary, Indiana transplanted in Atlanta and delivering a solid visual shot in New York. Blitz has some potent influence coming from those 3 cities. The King of Pop was born in Gary, everything on mainstream radio sounds like the ATL and New York is the birthplace of Hip-Hop. How does that translate in Blitz' sound? Pretty well, actually.

"Disappointment" is a contemplative record that kicks off with the fantastic motivational speech delivered by Al Pacino's character in the film 'Any Given Sunday.' The production is my favorite part of the experience but that's no knock to his rapping ability. He's dope! The track is just that smooth. What makes it even more impressive is Blitz produced it himself. Of course, it fits his flow like a glove and makes for a fresh sound. I had to repeat this one a few times because that groove is so official. Head nod supreme.

Soope - "F*** Da Police" Music Video

I've been waiting for Hip-Hop to get dangerous again. It's gotten far too safe soft. Not that that in and of itself is a bad thing. Hip-Hop can be as expressive of softer emotions as any art form out there. I'm talking about that soft "Hip-Hop" aka Fist Pumping BS aka Nobody is Going to Riot With This Trash Playing in the Background music. I won't get much deeper into it as that would spark an entirely different conversation that's far too lengthy for this blog post.

That's also not to say that Rap music has to be limited to ignorant, violent and misogynistic content. That's just stupid and if you follow this blog you know that I know better. Anyway...

Soope dropped a dangerous record off this morning. This is not suburbia friendly Hip-Hop. Soope's "F*** Da Police" is the type of music that pushed the creation of the Parental Advisory sticker or backed the LA Riots. This record is offensive.

This record just put Soope on a watchlist.

Full of 80s 808 and 606 styling punctuated with stabs a la Rick Rubin, "F*** Da Police" is Soope's reminder that Hip-Hop is hard edge. The video, shot in "Roadrunna Vision," follows the Indiana native through the streets of NYC as he and his crew fill the polluted Manhattan air with unadulterated Hip-Hop. They even had the ABC news crew boppin' to the music! A brilliant moment and poignant message whether intended or not.

Soope - "Born to Fly" Music Video

Keeping the momentum going, Soope just released this new video for "Born to Fly" from his 'Where in the World is Soope?' mixtape. I missed this video shoot a few weeks ago and now watching the final product makes me regret it even more. It looks like they had a blast.

The production on this track is just bonkers and Soope does what he always does with the flow and delivery. Top notch product all the way around. Every move Soope makes looks like another step closer to a breakout. "Born to Fly" is no different.

What better way to close out the year two thousand and eleven than with an exclusive music video from one of RoxFontaine.com's favorite artists!?

It's been a fantastic year full of growth and love and I've gone from the blog that nobody ever heard of to the blog that a couple of people know about. I've tracked down some amazing music made manifest by some incredible independent artists and passed the word on to you. One such artist is Soope.

Watching his career develop right before our eyes is amazing. Watching his skill, awareness and creativity evolve is even more so. With this new video for "King" Soope basically puts an emphatic stamp on the outro to 2011. He does so using the most fitting theme possible for this year - protest.

Soope put in crazy work the last 12 months. He consistently gave us dope music, videos and insight to his development. I expect 2012 will be leaps and bounds above what we got this year from the Indiana native.

Soope - "Reggie Martin Style" Music Video

Where in the world is Soope is a legitimate question. You never know where he may pop up. For his latest music video from the 'Where in the World is Soope' album, the place is Macau, China. The Indiana based rapper takes it to the Venetian Macau for a show and video shoot for "Reggie Martin Style."

Who's Reggie Martin? He's the Senior Manager of Special Events and Sports at the Venetian Macau. He's also the Vice Chair of the American Chambers of Commerce. That's just the short list. Reggie came from very humble beginnings in East Chicago to rubbing elbows with the biggest names in entertainment around the world. Soope pays homage to Reggie's history and influence with an aptly named song.

'Where in the World is Soope' is available now on iTunes. It's a dope album hosted by DJ Skee featuring some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop including Rick Ross, Jadakiss, Ice-T, Rev Run, DJ Envy and more. Check the video below:

Soope feat. Grubbs - "Hard Hat"

The streets are up to something. Something truly special. Despite what mainstream radio would have one believe, there is a generation of dreamers out here that do. Soope is one such individual. As an MC, I respect his ability and artistic vision. The material he is putting out at this stage of the game is phenomenal and it's certainly not long before he gains more widespread attention. As a man, I respect his courage for creating and presenting this new release "Hard Hat."

In the current economic state, many people took offense to Jay-Z and Kanye's 'Watch the Throne' project. The duo's ode to excess left many turned off. For those of you who genuinely felt that, then this track is for you. Soope and Grubbs are walking you into the reality of of the "rest" of America. The reality of the Have-nots.

This is the most poignant work I've heard from Soope. It makes me proud to watch his career and skill develop. We need this type of artistry in Hip-Hop. We need, and have needed for many years now, to restore balance in mainstream Hip-Hop. There is room for intelligence. There is room for truth. There is room for Soope. LET HIM IN!

Soope - "When You Come Home"

I dedicate this post to my best friend Cavin Edwards and his girlfriend Cristina Diaz. Cavin, aka Riddle Fontaine, is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. 2 days ago, he deployed to Afghanistan for a year. It's very difficult to know that he will be gone so long but we're made men. We do what is necessary.

Indiana's own Soope just dropped this track produced by Sinima Beats on twitter. If you know someone serving or have served yourself (as I have), then this song is for you. Big shout out to Soope for repping the 219 the way he does and for putting this track out at this moment. I know I personally needed it.

Soope for Azad Watches

Azad watches announced their "Legends of the Game" series late last month.  This promo song by Indiana's Soope the Roadrunner precedes the official launch of the limited edition watches.  These luxurious time pieces will be honoring Hip-Hop legend Rev. Run, NBA Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" Erving and international DJ Alex Sensation.  The line will include other notable figures not yet named.

Soope has been on a rampage in the last year and this power move is emphatic testament to his marketability.  An insider at Azad watches says this video is not the finalized version.  Soope and his team are working on an official video, she says.  I'll update you as soon as it's available.

The watches range in price from a reasonable $800 up to the $100k range, depending on choice and number of stones and watch style. The 3 year old company has seen it's watches on the wrists of countless athletes, musicians and other celebrities.
