DA the Future - "So Clear" Music Video

DA the Future is one of my favorite indie artists working. I'm always hyped up when I get a notice that he dropped some new material. Clearly a rappers rapper, he keeps a great balance of street and book smarts apparent in his lyrics. He easily couples hard lyrics and aggressive delivery with the easy melodic piano line and strings.

The Long Island native hasn't dropped a track yet that didn't have me stopping to really take in the lyrics. "So Clear" is no exception. DA the Future is a serious writer and a prime example of expressing Hip-Hop as fine art. Everybody can't do what he does. Many artists talk about their connection to music but it's often just side talk. You can hear and feel it in the music that he SEES it first. These aren't just random strings of nonsense thrown together because they rhyme.

Check out the music video for "So Clear" and keep an eye and ear out for DA...

D.A. the Future - "I Don't Owe You!"

Strong Island ... what up!?

I've been itching to hear some new music from D.A. the Future since I first heard him several months ago. This fellow has a fire in his belly unlike ... pretty much anyone I've heard in a long time. I'm talking about that old school street ass street talk rappin'. The cloth that Tupac, Freeway, K'naan, Beanie Sigel, Sean Price and the like were cut from. If you don't know how those artists fit together then you should probably just skip this post.

I'm just sayin'...

This is one of the exact reasons why I love writing for this blog. This is the type of music that I live for. This is the music that I buy and support locally at shows and events. D.A. the Future is nothing if not dynamic and his energy and effort inspires me to be better at what I do. That type of thing is rare. I could post a bunch of mediocre music every day or I can be patient (and wrong by blog standards) and wait for the right music.

"I Don't Owe You!" is unadulterated Hip-Hop. Producer Vinny Idol @$*!@& this @(#$& UP! D.A. was definitely on my watch list but after this, he's one of my favorite rappers period. Get into this track and you may feel the same!

Late Pass - D.A. the Future - "Addicted"

I don't know how this has escaped me for 6 months. This guy is dynamic and right here in NYC. So I'm taking my late pass on this one but it's all good. What's current is not necessarily what is relevant. D.A. the Future is entirely relevant and this video for "Addicted" has certainly grabbed my attention.

D.A. takes us through a couple of his life experiences that fueled his addiction to music. Healthy addiction may sound like an oxymoron but that's exactly what it is. He found an outlet to express himself in a positive way and he does so with power and grace. D.A. is lyrical, engaging and intelligent. This is an artist to watch.
