Tone M - "Insecurities"

I first met Tone M probably a year ago. As he is a bit of an introvert, we didn't talk much but he reached out to me later with a project of his called 'Konshu's Odyssey.' It was a respectable project but a bit too cryptic in it's presentation.

Some time later, we met again at a recording session in Brooklyn. After the session, Tone played the "Insecurities" instrumental on his laptop and spit the verses live for me. I was thoroughly impressed. It was a complete 180 from what I had heard from him before. He had stopped rapping at people and started rapping to them. I made a point to let him know to send me the track when it was ready.

Well, here it is! Tone M hit the nail on the head with "Insecurities" and demands that he be respected as a bona fide MC. The lo-fi Jazz sample is the perfect soundscape to his laid back flow and puts the listener in a dream space. This joint feels good in the bones.

J.F. Brooks - "Lord Knows" Beat Violation Music Video

BiGCiTYBiGCiTY front man JF Brooks is gearing up for a concert event featured here on RoxFontaine.com at Nightingale Lounge in NYC. To get fans fired up for the event, he releases this new "beat violation" and accompanying music video set to Drake's "Lord Knows" instrumental.

Kweyah - "Love and Hate" Music Video

Kweyah (pronounced kwee-yuh) just blessed the web with a new song and video. On "Love and Hate" he gives a look at what he's working on for his upcoming project scheduled to launch behind that of his collaborator Laurelle. Details are sparse on this one but it's pretty dope either way. I assume this is just a "feeler" as last I heard his project is some time away.

Che Pills - "Large in the Streets" Music Video

Rap is getting dangerous again! Che Pills takes Vado's "Large in the Streets" instrumental and completely bodies it. This dark and muddy, Timberland and skully feel is my kind of music. Che is an agressive lyricist but knowing his story and his goals helps one better understand the lyrics. I would get into some of those details but they are best saved for another time.

This is the first leak from the forthcoming album, 'Survivings IV Suckers.' Trust me when I tell you it will be a heavy album with some classic material on it. I actually had the opportunity to sit with Che in-studio and hear a couple of tracks. I was blown away. You will be too.

I first posted audio for this song back in May. The visual hit the web today and it was well worth the wait. This video is ON POINT! Of course, JF's delivery is savage and The Watcherz showed their natural asses on the track. Get lost in the music real quick....

I'm slackin' on my mackin'! My inbox has been flooded with a bunch of crap and this dope submission right here got lost in the sauce for a few days. Shout out to the homie Mr. Lindo for getting me this early. I just accidentally dropped the ball on it. Better late than never though!

Here it is 7am and I'm blogging. All things with reason though. I don't think any track could possibly be more apropos at this moment than this new JF Brooks release. I woke up at 6:30 am on a Saturday to my cell phone ringing. It was my business phone. There's was a problem I had to take care of right away or there would be big problems this weekend. Instead of hopping back into bed, I took the opportunity to keep working. Combing through my inbox for new material, I realized I missed a gem!

I first caught wind of JF Brooks about 6 months ago when he dropped his first video for "Seasoning". I've been rocking with his music ever since. Anticipation for his first album 'Undeniable' has been building with each leak to the 'net. In March he released "When I Grow Up" and now we are blessed with "Love Can't Pay My Bills".

On this track, produced by The Watcherz, JF gives you the straight talk about a man trying to balance family life while at the same time staying on top of his business. What do you do when food needs to be put on the table? Do you sit at home and daydream about all the things you wish you had or do you get up, get out and get something?
