Exclusive: STORi - "Jump Off to Lovers"

I think STORi said it best herself: "Dope sauce drippin'." Somebody please call for a cleanup in aisle 3!

The Newark, NJ based singer/songwriter STORi has had a strong year. I'm guessing she chose to close out in Hulk mode as "Jump Off to Lovers" is by far the best I've heard from her this year. The smoothed out R&B track takes me back to my junior/senior high school days when you used to make "makeout" tapes. Hell, I may have to make one for nostalgia's sake.

I really dig this vocal performance and production. I'm wondering when we'll get news of a full release from her home at Universal/Motown. Give us the scoop, STORi!

STORi - "Just Another Day"

image via artists facebook

I'm taking a late pass on this one as I'm just hearing of New Jersey singer/songwriter STORi. Recently signed to Motown/Universal this emerging talent dropped this reworking of Queen Latifah's "Just Another Day" to a self propelled 16k+ listens and counting.

STORi is an interesting talent. Flipping through her online catalog I gather that she hasn't truly defined herself as an artist but she's got a "laurynhill-ish" appeal. She hops back and forth between rapping and singing with ease and is quite smooth at both. I can't wait to hear her on a full project.

In the meantime, I'll be vibing to "Just Another Day." Check the stream and download below.

David Rush Birthday Party

David Rush (rt.ctr.) with family and friends.

Chris Michael's in NJ played host to the birthday celebration for XBMG/Universal recording artist David Rush last night. It was a wall to wall affair of partygoers shaking off the effects of the cabin fever this winter brought. Shorts, mini dresses, tees and halter tops were the items of choice for the ladies and the fellas were finally free to come out in just a shirt.

Guests rocked out to the music of DJ Mark Amatucci as he took us through "fist pumping" staples, Hip-Hop and Reggaeton and a new track released by Rushia just for his birthday. Check below to listen and download.

I had a great time hanging out and throwing my fist to the sky like a pro. A very happy birthday wish to David Rush. Another year in the bag, Baby! POWZER! Here's to many more. Check out these select photos from the night...

Olivia "Show the World" with VH1

Olivia is back and making her own way.  Regardless of what detractors may say about her fallout with her previous label, Olivia is determined to prove them wrong.  She signed a new deal with a new label (Universal) and she wants to show the world that she is a bonafide R&B singer.

The invite only event was covered by VH1 as part of her reality TV series forthcoming on the network.  Details of the show have not been revealed yet but it's not hard to imagine what the premise is.  Olivia performed several songs from the new album and I was overall very impressed with the music.  She performed a great mix of uptempo songs and ballads.

The New York native was moved to tears by the end of the evening.  She was overwhelmed at the support she was shown from friends, family, industry personnel and sponsors.  Sponsor Nano Tech 210 even capped the performance by presenting Olivia a custom diamond encrusted watch from their sport collection.

Here are some notable faces from the red carpet and crowd that came out to support Olivia....
