Justin Bua for Honda?

I'm a big fan of this guys work and I just heard that he did a commercial for Honda.  Except that he didn't.  This 3D style is too close to Bua's art style to be a coincidence.  I hadn't seen this commercial prior to hearing about this ad but I would have pegged this as his style immediately too.  Bonus pic of my autographed Bua PF Flyers "The Boombox".  I really hope I can find "The Baller" and "The DJ" some day.

Honda, step your game up and get the REAL Justin Bua next time!

Regional Fast Foods

I've been lucky enough to travel to more than a few places in my short time here on the 3rd rock from the sun.  I've experienced many different cultures, languages and, of course, foods.  Generally, I'm not crazy about food.  My brother Chico Fontaine even says, "If eating weren't an absolute necessity, you'd probably skip it all together."  He's probably right.  I do enjoy good food though and "good" doesn't necessarily mean homemade and/or expensive.

I saw a commercial for Long John Silver's today and it reminded me of one of my favorite places to eat when I'm visiting my family in Florida; Captain D's.  It's the same premise as Long John Silver's just way better in my opinion.  I could eat their hush puppies until it made me sick.  If I'm in Florida for 10 days, I'm eating Captain D's at least 4 times.

That got me to thinking about other really good places I like to grab fast food when I'm traveling that I can't buy here in NY.
Whataburger: I was put on to this place when I was 14 years old.  I was living in Galveston, TX for about 2 months.  I was performing in the Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals production of Show Boat.  Every chance I had, I'd go to Whataburger for food.  Whenever I get back to Texas, this will be my first stop.

Tenya: This is by far my favorite "fast" food in Japan.  I literally gorge myself every time I eat here.  I always order the same thing; 2 pieces of sweet potato, 2 pieces of pumpkin, 2 pieces of whiting fish and green beans.  The sweet sauce that you put on this along with some 7 spice.....OMG!  Heaven on Earth.

Coco Ichiban: This is my second favorite in Japan.  Japanese style curry and rice with with fried fish on top and an ice cold Coca-Cola.  Sometimes I get the chicken stuffed with vegetables or beef cutlet on top.  Either way, it's crazy good.

Cracker Barrel: I usually hit this place in Virginia.  There are a bunch of them on the East coast but I always like to go in Virginia because it's right off of I-95.  I'll usually hit the one in Dumfries or the one in Fredericksburg, VA.  The food here is average but the ambiance is what really makes the experience.  I like poking around the store before and after I eat but I don't think I've ever purchased anything from it.

Mos Def - "White Drapes"

Brace yourself for one of the best 1 minute and 50 second periods of your life.  This is that old basement studio 8 track feeling coupled with indie film flair.  This is freshness unleashed.

Mos Def - "The Tournament"

NEW JOINT!  Check out this previously unreleased track from Mos Def's last album 'The Ecstatic'.  Very bare track with an eerie feel.  Mos Def lyrics are always the showcase anyway, so this track works well.

Pardon the Interruption

I'm out in Newark for the evening on business. I opted out of bringing my laptop with me because I have a really early start tomorrow morning and I need to be well rested. If my computer was here, I'm certain I'd spend far too much time on it. I don't remember if I mentioned this before now but I absolutely hate mornings.

I'm poor at managing my sleep so I made a conscious effort to be great at it for one night. I didn't want to leave my blog without a post for the day so I'm asking that you pardon the interruption. I'll be back in full swing tomorrow night.

Side note: I brought my camera with me and my intent was to go out and get some shots. I was drained by the days activities though and just felt like watching a little TV and vegging out. I caught the tail end of American Idol and I'm watching Man vs. Wild now. This dude is CRAZY! Crazy skilled but crazy none the less.

Freeway & Jake One - The Stimulus Package

When I see things like this, I'm reminded that Hip-Hop culture has unlimited possibilities.  I will be buying 2 copies of this.  One to open and one to store.  Check the first single below.  Freeway is back on that original flow we all loved so much when he first stepped on the scene.  Backed by Jake One production, I'm expecting this album to be FIRAH!  Album is dropping February 16th.

"She Makes Me Feel Alright"

The Hunt Continues - Week 4

4th week in and I've turned up nothing.  Not even a rumor.

This is the 2009 release.  Another Air Force 1.  This shoe's design cues are in celebration of America's first Black President.  44 stars circle the centennial logo as Barack Obama is our nation's 44th President.  The "marbelized" soles represent the floor of the Supreme Court.  This model is very much understated but still very interesting.

Team L.A.R.K. - 5th Anniversary

In celebration of Team L.A.R.K.'s (Limited And Rare Kicks) 5th anniversary, my good friend Krome revamped our logo for 2010.  The old one was super dope but she brought the logo forward with another slick design.  The next order of business is to get t-shirts made.  That won't be done until warm weather though. They are going to be fresh as hell at this years annual L.A.R.K. BBQ party.  Click the image to enlarge it.

Nike Air Assailant

Yo, I'd seriously kick someone in the throat for a pair of these.  I had a pair, not this colorway, when I was in high school.  To this day, I have absolutely no idea what happened to them.  I don't know if I just threw them away or what.  I don't remember wearing them down, I don't remember giving them to anyone.  I just remember loving them more than anything else I had at the time.

This shoe has proven to be the absolute most difficult pair for me to find in my sea of wants.  I only know of one person who might have them and I don't know him personally.  I just wish I had a pair in either this colorway or the blue/white colorway that I had in high school.  I don't like the white/white pair.

Wyclef Jean feat. Mavado - "Hold On" Video

I can't imagine how much this man's heart hurts for his country and his people.  I admire that he's spent so much time on the ground there helping the survivors build and repair with dignity.  What he's doing is amazing and a prime example of how more people in the public eye should show true social responsibility.

+1 for the Collection

I almost lost my mind when I first saw these!  I can't believe that I was able to get them.  Normally, this type of shoe is way out of my budget and I just have to watch as someone better off than me adds them to their collection.  This time, I got to grab them and at a reasonable price.  My Gary Payton collection of jerseys and shoes continues to grow and I couldn't be more happy with this acquisition.

Introducing Atlanis

My wife and son went to the Westchester County Center today for the Reptile Expo.  She took him as a surprise because he's a big fan of snakes and lizards.  He's been asking me to buy him a snake for more than a year now.  I've taken him to a couple pet stores to price Garter snakes but for some reason I couldn't pull the trigger on one.

About a month ago, we happened into a Petco store and I noticed a write up on the tank of a Ball Python.  It mentioned that the Ball Python is a popular purchase for beginners.  My interest was piqued by the mention that they are very docile snakes and easy to handle.  I considered a purchase that day until I saw the price of putting everything together for the snakes comfort.  The snake itself was $69.99.  The kit that included heating, the tank, substrate, etc. was $149.99.  Of course, all of that plus tax and I again opted against a purchase.

So today, about an hour after my family arrived at the reptile expo, I got a message from my wife.  She says to me, "Our son wants a snake so badly.  He's crying now."  My initial response was that crying is not the way to get what you want.  It still played on my heartstrings a little and I asked for more details about the purchase.  I had to know how to keep the snake healthy, how to keep ourselves healthy, how to feed it, how big it would get, how much accessories cost, etc.  After all was said and done, my son bought a 3 month old female Ball Python.

It was a great deal for everything as the total of the snake and it's habitat was around $94.00.  My son paid for the snake himself with his allowance and will be working off about half of the purchase price by doing chores.  He named her Atlanis.  One T.
