Reminder: Talib Kweli at EOW TOMORROW!

Back When Nike Was Creative

This is one of my favorite advertisements of all-time.  Yes, largely in part because I'm a self-proclaimed "ass man".  Beyond the lusciousness of this backside though, it's just a brilliant ad.  Respect to the girls out there that are thicker than the "average" but keep it tight and right.  Stay fly.

Gil Scott-Heron - "Me and the Devil"

Respect if you know who this man is.  If you don't, please educate yourself.  You may have heard the term, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." at some point in your life.  He is the author of the original poem.  He's a poet who's career is largely defined by his works from the 1960s and '70s.

He's had a seemingly lifetime history with drugs and addiction but always manages to stay sober just long enough to rekindle his gift with words.  This is his latest from a forthcoming album.

Funkmaster Flex

Kamikaze Krazy

FINALLY!

I have been hunting for these shoes in my size since 2001.  I wasn't able to afford them when they originally released and they were a very rare find a few years later.  Here it is 2010 and my hunt has resulted in success!  I thought I would get a pair in 2003 when I saw a guy wearing them on the street.  This was down in Union Square.  I pretty much begged and pleaded with the guy to take them off and sell them to me.  I told him I'd take him to one of the many sneaker stores nearby and buy him any pair he wanted as long as they were less than $120.  He really thought about it for a few minutes but decided that they were just too comfortable to give up.  I wanted to kick that guys ass.

I got this pair of Kamikaze I lows in the same deal.  Not a fan of this style in low form but it was a good deal for a wearable pair.  If I can find the mids my cypher will be complete.

@RoxFontaine - It's Official

It most definitely is a digital age.  I've been avoiding this like the plague but peer pressure finally got me to take the leap.

I am now on Twitter.

I've been badgered for months now by friends and coworkers egging me to join in the fray.  I respectfully declined over and over again.  Persistence is key though.  They've finally beaten me.  Shout out to my good friend Sheron a.k.a. "Cannon" for being the straw that broke the camel's back.  I know all of you digital junkies are already on there, so "follow" me.

Usher feat. Niki Minaj - "Little Freak"

Check out this leaked track from Usher's forthcoming 'Raymond vs. Raymond' album!  The Stevie Wonder sample is super dope.  I'm not diggin' the content though.  Male chauvinism aside; I'm excited for this album.  'Here I Stand' was very disappointing so I'm really hoping he bounces back with something at least remotely as thorough as 'Confessions'.

Gary Payton Air Jordan XIX SE PE

Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a HUGE Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp fan. I've been lucky enough to acquire many jerseys, cards, shoes and other memorabilia bearing their names. I got to add another one to the collection today and I'm very happy about it.

New M.I.A.!

M.I.A. posted this on TwitVid yesterday.  She just made my freakin' month!  I've been dying for new music from her and today I got my wish.  I hope that her baby is growing happy and healthy so she can get back to her adoring public.

The Hunt Continues - Week 2

I've not yet heard anything about the 2010 release.  That bothers me and it really shouldn't.  It has been this way every year.  I usually don't find anything out until a week or so before they release.  Then it's just a mad dash to see how I can get them.

This is the 2006 release.  They stuck with the Air Force 1 as the base shoe and threw some weaving in the mix.  This is the first pair I was able to get my hands on.  I actually traded for them which was a beautiful thing.  I had to actively keep myself from wearing these because I wanted to wear them all the time.  What really sucks is that this pair is back in Japan.  I need to get them shipped here so I can wear them next month.

Daaaaaamn! You got GOT!

Atlanta police are reporting that Usher was the unfortunate victim of a vehicle break in across the street from a popular shopping mall .  Altogether not that special until you read that this Negro had over a million dollars worth of jewelry, electronics and gear in the car!  Say it with me...

ONE MILLION DOLLARS!?

Why on God's Green Earth would you be rollin' around with that much money worth of crap in your car and you are not a Miami coke dealer?  He's claiming a million dollars in jewelry, 50k in furs and 20k in cold hard cash was in the car.

Cot zang!  This is a side of the game that most of us can only hope to know about.  I thought Usher would be smarter than this.  If you must travel with all of that, why would you not bring a driver to attend your vehicle while you're away from it?  I guess only poor people think this way?

To make matters worse, it seems like he just forgot to lock the damn doors on the car.  A witness reported seeing a man pull up in an Impala and, I quote verbatim, "popped open the door".  Usher better hope Ashton Kutcher was in that Impala.

I'm Addicted...

To my Blackberry.  I am 100% "Crackberry" addict.

Today, I did something I've never done before.  I left my Blackberry at home.  (FYI, it's a Tour.)  I was scatterbrained this morning on my way to work and I took off without my cell phone OR my wallet.    I noticed I left my phone right away but I would have been late if I went back upstairs to get it.  I thought I could handle a day without it.  I didn't realize I left my wallet until I wanted to step out with a coworker to go get some donuts much later in the day.  That ticked me off because I had to borrow two dollars to get donuts.  I don't carry any cash with me to work.  If you've been reading my blog, you know that I'm an impulse buyer.  I don't carry cash because I will spend every cent in my pocket on random crap in the vending machine if I do.  This is all beside the point though....

After about 2 hours into work, I started getting the itch.  I found myself reaching, out of pure habit, for my phone to see if my little red light was blinking.  It was pathetic.  Once would have been OK.  We are creatures of habit after all.  After the 4th and 5th time though, I was just embarrassed......for myself.  I had to get my fix so I went to one of my coworkers and hijacked her for her BB.  She has the Tour as well so that was even better.  I made my usual internet rounds and all was well again.  (Sidebar: We're WebSensed from damn near everything at work so I have to get my digital fix via my cell phone.)  My wife, knowing how addicted I am, was sure to bring the phone when she picked me up from work.  I snatched it from her like a rabid dog being fed a piece of chicken.

Plus 1,000 douche bag points for me when I realized that I missed pretty much NOTHING.  Shoutout to Burger though!  She was the only person to BBM me today.

* Look at the picture.  I still have the original damn plastic on the screen and I got this phone back in November!  Don't bite my theme swag either.

Gatorade Unfaithful Bottles

Man, Tiger Woods is getting beat up left and right!   I heard about this earlier today and I was certain that it was the work of pop artist Banksy.  I was wrong, but it's still damn clever.

Game Rebellion EP Release Party

I will be in the building for this party.  If you're not up on Game Rebellion yet, check out their website.  Download their mixtape "Searching for Rick Rubin" while you're there.  I posted the album back in July of '09.  It's a super dope afro-punk mixtape inspired by Rick Rubin's contributions to Rap music and Hip-Hop culture.

I'm in pain.

I haven't worked out in a long time. My wife is on her fitness kick for probably the 15th seperate time and bought a Planet Fitness membership.  She's been going during the day while our son is in school.  So, Friday last week I was off.  She asked me to go to the gym with her and I obliged.

What the hell was I thinking?

When I work out, I work hard.  I worked biceps and triceps only as I always break my gym days into muscle groups. Other groups would be chest and back, quadriceps, hamstrings and calfs.  I figured arms would be an easy start.

I was so wrong.

After my workout I did my cool down stretching, had a protein drink and some water to rehydrate myself.  I knew I had a solid workout but I didn't find out just how solid until 2 days later.

My left arm is KILLING me!  Both arms are sore but my left feels like it is about to fall off.  I can't even straighten it out.  I tried a hot bath, a massage and a heat pack.  None have provided more than 5 minutes of relief. So I just have to wait it out. Meanwhile, I'm walking around holding my arm at a 90 degree angle and looking like a complete douche bag.

No pain; no gain.

Rox Fontaine

Yeah, that's me.  Leave me comments.  Follow my blog.  Ask me questions.  Come back tomorrow.

Pizza Party

The Fontaines got together today and we decided to have a pizza "party".  We opted against the usual order out option and instead we went to get mostly fresh ingredients.  The result was some damn good pizza, custom taste and less money spent.  Win all around.

It only took us a few minutes to brown some sausage and get our ingredients added to our pies.  Only thing left to do was sling them into the oven for a few minutes.

Here's my take on it.  Mozarella, parmesan, pepperoni, mushroom, sausage and fresh basil.

After a 12 minutes in the oven; it was time to go in!

Shout out to The Fontaine family.

'The A-Team' Trailer - 80's Babies Say, "Hooooooo!"

I pity the fool that hasn't seen this trailer yet.  This was my favorite live action show as a young buck.  I'm excited for the release.  Nothing says summer like a summer blockbuster!  I hope Rampage's acting doesn't suck as badly as I imagine it does.
